Jess & Dan got married at The Boat House at Aston Marina on 9th December 2017. Jess really wanted a white wedding and boy did she get one! The snow was really coming down in the morning but thankfully eased off after settling to create a perfect winter wonderland!
Jess looked absolutely stunning in her customised Provonias Ornani dress from Bridal Couture By Josephine paired with her beautiful Jimmy Choos! Her bridesmaids rocked their gorgeous burgundy chiffon & sequin floor length dresses. Dan looked super smart in his 3 piece suit and the boys all scrubbed up nicely!
They actually had a FIRST TOUCH photograph taken before they got married; this was something Jess had wanted for ages and it worked out amazingly! Dan stood outside the door and Jess stood inside the brides room and they held hands – it was so tempting to look but they resisted!!
The whole day was just perfect as they celebrated in style with their friends and family and the dance floor in the evening was a crazy fun mess.....just how I like it!!
Here's a selection of pictures from their fabulous wedding. You can sit back turn the volume up and enjoy........or you can keep reading and scroll down to see a few images from their day!
How did you meet?
We have been together since high school! So nearing 13 years when we got hitched.
Tell me your proposal story...
Dan proposed in Las Vegas at a rooftop bar overlooking the strip at midnight 21st September 2016. Las Vegas is very special to us and this was our 5th visit there. He proposed with a beautiful Emerald Soleste ring from Tiffanys which he had sourced from America. I always hoped he would propose when we were in Vegas but it was still a massive surprise as he hid the ring in his sock! Apparently he had been carrying it round for 2 days until he found the right time and place to propose. It took him 11 years to propose!
Why did you choose The Boat House At Aston Marina for your wedding day?
We wanted somewhere modern but with nice outdoor scenery. The Boat House hadn’t been open long and it was the first and only venue we viewed! We knew we didn’t want a traditional venue like a manor house or a barn and the interior of the Boat House really stood out with the lighting features.
What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?
Every bride loves their dress but I ADORED mine, it was a Pronovias design with an open back and scalloped edge train. I had this customised with a belt and accessorised with Jimmy Choo shoes and a blush pink fur coat. As it snowed most of the day the coat was perfect, don’t know what I would of done without it!
My bridesmaids looked stunning in burgundy sequin dresses from ASOS and the groom and his groomsmen looked smart in their navy suits from Marc Darcy. The colours really popped against the snow.
Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding including theme/colour scheme/styling/flowers...
The flowers were simple and wintery, I let Nat the florist come up with all the ideas as I trusted her design and they were amazing.
We went for burgundy and silver with the decorations and favours as it was a bit christmassy without being OTT.
I wanted lots of candles and twinkly lights which the venue kindly accommodated and kept on top of replacing the candles over the course of the day.
We wanted a relaxed wedding with good food, lots of drinks and some good entertainment, I think we pulled it off!
We had a roulette table to pay homage to our Vegas proposal, and a DJ and saxophonist to get everyone up on the dance floor.
What was your first dance and why did you choose it?
We danced to Courteeners - Take over the world. They are our favourite band who we have been loads of times and this song and the lyrics was most relatable to us.
What were the most wonderful and memorable parts of the day for you?
Waking up to a snow covered scene on our wedding day was a dream come true. It made the whole day different and the pictures are phenomenal, people still talk about it now!
Dan’s father passed away in November 2015 and he would of loved to see us get married – to honour him Dan and the groomsmen decided to wear a black band on their left arms – it was such a nice touch and everybody knew what it meant to him.
We arranged with Sam and the venue for s a First touch photograph to be taken before we got married. This added to the excitement as we could feel each other but not see each other. I love how these phots turned out and they are so rare it’s nice to have something different in our album!
Why did you choose Samantha Jayne Photography and what was your experience of your photography on the day?
We chose Sam as she was photographer at a wedding where I was bridesmaid and remember how dedicated and slightly mental she is to getting the best photos.
Honestly I don’t know how to explain how amazing sam was. She lay in the snow to take photos, sat warming my feet up in a towel after I’d been traipsing through the snow and went above and beyond to get the perfect shots. She made everyone feel totally relaxed which was important as we didn’t want anything to appear too staged.
What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t fret about the little things, in the long run it won’t matter and you probably won’t even notice! Our 5ft LOVE letters didn’t show up and it took me till evening to realise!
A big shout out to all the suppliers for Jess & Dans' big day!
